Also bought this really great antique cast iron Christmas Tree Stand. Elves and deer and little trees.
It is small, only about 10" across.

This is a keeper! Kenny Boy is going to be staying with us. Such
a good tempered little doxie~

Handmade Sweater Shorts & Cross Stitch project

I made some little cheeky shorts from a sweater! So easy, only took about 1hr.

I just made a casing and added a velveteen ribbon tie and took the buttons
and placket off of the sweater and sewed them onto the front of the
sweater shorts. The yarn is really soft on these, alpaca and cashmere and merino wool.

The backside....

Another fun fast project...added an antiqe/vintage cross stitched piece onto the
back of a linen button up shirt. Would look good on a denim shirt too! Pin
in place and sew with machine or by hand.

Christmas Decorations~ Vintage & New & Handmade

I found this real birds nest and added a small vintage
bird from a card game, then I added a definition from an old
dictionary "nest..." I glued it onto a child's wooden
block and just decorated the block with another part
of the old card and some vintage 40's fabric.

We love decorating for the holidays. I got a jump start this year when
I found big bags of vintage ornaments from my
local thrift store. I was so lucky to have found the "atomic" metal ornament!

I just made this the other night, a small porcelain espresso cup. I just
added some oasis inside and glued the bottle brush tree in place, added
some "snow" around the base and an adorable vintage plastic
miniature deer. Then I added just a touch of glitter. These are easy and fun.

(left)Christmas vignette using old Fiestaware plate and some antique silk buttons. Old bottle brush Christmas tree, a vintage plastic reindeer and a few Wright's trim packages. Found the "background" bag at Marshall's yesterday.

Below are two of my handmade miniature Christmas stockings that I made from a cashmere sweater and some vintage fabrics.

Holidays at The Antique Store ~ Chica Boom Vintage Goes Green & Red

I made this little stocking from a cashmere sweater
Made some paper flowers from sewing patterns. I love these
vintage jingle bells and the silver elephant under the glass dome.
The armoire I just purchased for the store. I added
a painted Syroco bird and added the vintage
travel case and some shoes. Fun!
My handmade mini Christmas Trees. The one on the far left is on a wood spool, the middle is on a small spool
of DMC thread and the one on the right is a mini tree in a mini cloisonné pot. I just added some buttons and trim and
a touch of  gold glitter.  They measure about 5" tall.
In the store I have a bookcase, I put woodgrain wrapping paper behind the shelves and decided to go with red, green, white and silver for the holidays~ I like the challenge of finding pieces that coordinate.

Vintage top by Mr. Mench, I think it was a dress and someone butchered it to a short top. I first straightened the hem and added this cute trim.  I really like the finished piece. Will be putting it for sale on my Etsy, just click on the link to the right and it should take you to my store, Chica Boom Vintage.

I made this cute tank top from two different pieces. I loved the little buttons up the front of a found top but the rest of it was not appealing so I added it onto the front of this Missoni looking woven tank top. I just found this great vintage fringe leather jacket too! Little bit of western never hurt anyone!

More puppy pics

2 Days old~

Ms. Hazel and her pups

Two of the new puppies "Isabelle" on the right and "Leroy
Brown" on the left.

We have been very busy taking care of our little Hazel while she has been expecting her first litter of dachshund puppies!  She was in labor for about a day and a half! She had 5 beautiful and healthy little pups. Two are black and tan, one has a silvery sheen to it, one is a solid tan, and there are two brindles, one is a little more chocolate.  Hazel is supposed to be a purebred, her mom is a long haired boar brindle and her dad was the classic short haired black and tan. The father of Hazel's pups is a beautiful purebred Isabella colored dachshund. This color is really gorgeous, looks like a silvery taupe color.  I am putting the photo's of the mom and dad and the pups on their 1st day.

Restored & Improved Vintage Shopping Basket

The original vintage shopping basket...Rusty and needed a little repair

I sanded the rust off, tack welded the little manufacturer's tag back on and straightened the bars. I just used a can of semi gloss white spray paint and sewed a fabric bag out of an old tablecloth. $20 and about 2 hours worth of work.... I can't wait to take it shopping to the farmer's market or an outdoor antique fair!
