My vintage Christmas Tree. I purchased it from
an estate sale in November...I put my own
vintage small ornaments on it. Only three feet tall.

After Christmas mantle re-do. Too boring? I found the mirror at
a flea market for only $10. I re-painted it with chalk paint the same
color. The elk antlers I purchased for only $5.

Vintage cast iron bookends
"end of trail" American Indian.
Available on my etsy $12

Cast Iron/metal antique hare bank.
I love the paint on this, the wise old rabbit.

Estate Sale Finds...Millinery Flowers, Fans & Antique Luggage

Antique Fan made of silk and beads. I found
this at an estate sale. It came inside an old wooden box with a bird painted on silk inside.

Another one of my estate sale purchases.
Celluloid frame and old millinery flowers. I purchased some amazing hats and their boxes!

 Starting to accumulate a strange
amount of old cases and bags. I can't resist the old leather pieces~

Hawaii Oahu Trip

Taken in the morning on the North Shore, near Pipeline.

Another picture of the North Shore
It really is the Rainbow state!

Saw this vintage Vogue Pic in my hotel so I had
to snap a pic of it!

I think this is called Sandy Beach. I took
this from the car while it was moving! Cell phones are amazing!

Just a few little old bottles and antique sewing notions. I have had the old wood thimble with the sterling silver bee on it for about 20 years. I purchased it at a little English store in San Pedro. I just bought a big bag of old sewing items and am in love with the old safety pins, they were sold on a bigger pin with the tag. I especially like the gold thread, I will find a use for it someday!
This is a desk I made, as well as all of the items shown
on the top. I have them for sale
in the C Street Antique Store. I added "French" design
Transfers to the front of the old 40's desk as well as on top of glass jewelry boxes.

Milk Paint Makes an Old Chair New Again!

I never use to paint any antiques. I always felt as though it would be ruining the piece. The dark oaks and stains mean the piece is original and old. I have changed my mind.  Lately I really appreciate an antique piece of furniture with a beautiful paint job. Rich colors, bright colors, muted tones.  The milk/chalk paints have inspired me to update some antiques, make them into a statement piece.
The chair below is an antique that I purchased a few years ago. My kids never liked it, it is a typical Arts & Crafts era chair. Classic. I painted it a pale gray blue (above) and re-stained the inset seat. I added some upholstery tacks and a down filled pillow. Now it is a fun inviting chair. No longer what the kids called "The electric chair".

Altered Couture Magazine / Chica Boom Clothing Pieces

I loved this skirt I made. So much fun putting
two skirts together.  Check out the latest issue of Altered Couture. Available at Barnes & Nobles
and at Joann Fabrics. They have a great Website too.

This was a 1940's dress that
I embellished a little and changed the hemline

I submitted this skirt
last year and they used it for the Summer issue. Use vintage and antique textiles to
update your existing pieces.

I found these old Child size pair of chaps the other day at a flea market. I love all the detail in
the leather. They have canvas down the back with nice metal closures. Made from thick cow hide.
Just a fun piece of cowboy culture.

C Street Station Hesperia California

Here is my little space inside the C Street Station Antique Store in Hesperia, California. I added some vintage Chinese lanterns and some newly hand painted items. I had fun making some Easter
things and some Spring floral arrangements this year.
Here is a little antique table I painted pale butter yellow and distressed it with a wax finish.
Solid Brass stool/table from India. I added a milk paint finish over the
top in one of Annie Sloans paints. Bohemian but also a bit Shabby.
Some of my hand painted pieces and cool framed foliage.

#5 Queen of England

Small dish from the Queen of England's Silver Jubilee. I loved the little bullion "E" pin. In
the background is a new and un-opened package of nylon and a clasp, 1940s for re-stringing
pearls.

#6 Porcelain House & Crepe Paper

This vignette is just a few rolls of crepe paper I use for making things and my favorite little miniature porcelain thatched roof house. This is an English piece. I added an old egg shaped spool of thread and a parfume stick from Anthropology.

This is a really neat cast metal
vintage 50's Light pole. It use to have little
bottles of parfume inside the light fixtures and
there was an ashtray on the bottom. It is about 10" tall, one of my favorite pieces.

#1 Velveteen Ribbon

Rich velveteen ribbon spools with vintage crepe paper roses. I took
the roses off of a vintage pair of mink slippers. The ribbon spools are 4" tall and are
wood, they are from Marshall's discount store.

#2 India Gold

Good Hand Lotion, antique gold woven
trims and a beautiful hand decorated glass from India. I love putting a bunch of small things together. It's fun finding like colors.

#3 Millinery Flowers

This is a very old sewing trim by Stickerei, made in Germany. The packaging is so pretty, gold lettering and nice white gloss paper. Millinery flowers embellish.

#7 Vignette

Vignette's of things I have found and put together. This is a small bottle of Tocca, Violets and some antique rick rack and thread. I also added some Juicy Couture earrings and case with small bunch of
little dime store flowers.

Lucite Buttons

Vintage clear plastic Lucite buttons with hand painted flowers on them.
They are about the size of a quarter. Really cute.

Friday, January 17, 2014

Expanded my space at C Street Station Antique Store. I added more
clothing and rotated the Armoire.

Some of my bags for sale. Tooled leather bag and I made the rug bag behind it, used a vintage belt
for the handle, it is sooooo cute!

Vintage Syrocco bird shelf, can be painted any
color...

Another Vintage Syrocco shelf, this one I painted dove gray
instead of the dull gold they came in
originally.

My new rack with clothing..I am going to weld one
as soon as I get some time and steel.

I found this old display box. I just
thought it would be perfect for belts and ties.
Another Syrocco item painted pink and distressed a little. I love birds as you can tell!

1950's Cardigan and tank top.

Wall hanging for mail or ribbon.

Love this little sewing maching. $35...not bad but I am too cheap to buy it!

Amazing old telephone. I love this too. $75

This is a great clock. Love the color and the deer

Purchased this tin and a bag of ribbon and lace from a thrift store for only $3.99! I couldn't believe what ribbon was in there, It was mostly cheap nylon lace...the store doesn't let
you open the bags to see what is in them...kind of a fun thing to do if you like taking chances! The card of Victorian buttons were in the bag as well!  I felt like I hit the Lotto! Only junkers like me
will understand this!
